How to Walk in Faith

  • Walk in Faith, but what is Faith?
  • Become Unwavering
  • Conclusion

Learning to walk in faith has been and still is very hard for me, as it is supposed to be. For the majority of people including myself, it is very hard to release control over our lives. Now I am not talking about living our lives like a puppet on strings… Not that kind of control.

What I am referring to is the fear, the worry, the doubt, the anxiousness for everything that is currently going on in life. We all face trials and tribulations each and every day, but being able to walk in faith is KNOWING that God will see you through it; not that you will never face any trials but KNOWING that whatever you face, he is right there with you and will help you through it.

I understand that this is still hard to grasp, it still is for me… but that is the point. So, let’s dig a bit deeper into it. Now I am no theologist, pastor, or even worthy of being called a godly man… I am a sinful man, but yet I try every day to be better than I was yesterday so writing this I am digging deeper into my own faith and humbly hoping that by you going with me on this journey it will help you to think deeper about your faith as well.

Walk in Faith, but what is Faith?

In my humble opinion being able to walk in faith is an unwavering belief in knowing with every fiber of my being that no matter what I may face I will overcome.

One part of the parables of Jesus he teaches about faith:

Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.

Matthew 17:20
Walk in faith the size of a mustard seed

Now I do not believe that I can just by my faith tell a mountain to move physically that it will magically sprout legs and move out of my way. I honestly believe that in this parable, the mountain is an obstacle that is in our path. Let me break it down even more using an instance from my personal life.

Back in 2017, I was on a path; life was as good as it could be. My family was healthy, my homestead was bustling, and I was working at a good-paying job. That day no more than 45 minutes after talking to my wife Tana, like I did every day at lunch I got a call from my son’s girlfriend that something was wrong with her. By the time I got home, and drove up the driveway, the paramedics were working on her, but at this point, she was already gone. Needless to say, my world crumbled and I thought I died along with her.

It has taken me over 5 years to finally come to terms with her passing, however, I will still never be the same. My point with this example is that Tana’s passing was my mountain in the parable.

Life is hard, ironically I have written about that as well: Life is Hard As it was back then for me, even though I struggled, even through the bouts of depression, anger, and pain I tried hard to believe that God would see me through it. So to me, being able to walk in faith is KNOWING that whatever I am going to face, God is going to see me through it; not that I won’t face these things, but that he WILL help me get through it.

Become Unwavering

There is an old saying, I know most of you have heard: That which does not kill us, makes us stronger. Well, I like to change how that is said:

That which does not kill us makes our faith stronger… As long as we believe.

Become unwavering in the belief that no matter what trials you face you KNOW with the Grace of God that you will make it through it. Whether it is depression, the loss of a loved one, a financial hardship, or whatever you are facing, down deep inside your gut, cement the knowledge that by being able to walk in faith in the Grace of God, you WILL make it through.

Conclusion

I honestly think I am going to have to write more on this subject as I feel that I haven’t even scratched the surface. Heck, God has got a whole book on the subject, a blog post from me sure as heck isn’t going to cover it all.

Life is not easy, was never meant to be. If it was and there was no pain, no death, no loss, no worry… well this whole blog post would be moot because we’d already be in Heaven.

Just remember, you are never alone and that no matter what you are facing today, that the sun will still come up tomorrow. That as long as with every fiber of your being you have faith that God will see you through, you WILL make it through.

I’d love to hear from you all on this, please reach out, leave some comments, and let’s start the discussion on faith.

Until Next Time.
