How to make Elderberry Syrup

A delicious and simple elderberry syrup recipe made with elderberries, herbs, and honey.

Ingredients
  

  • 31/2 cups of water
  • 2/3 cup dried elderberries
  • 2 tbsp of grated ginger
  • 1 tsp of cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 cup of raw honey

Instructions
 

  • Combine the water, elderberries, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves in a medium saucepan.
  • Bring to a boil, uncover, and reduce heat to simmer for approximately 40 to 45 minutes or until the liquid is reduced by half.
  • Remove from the heat and let it cool.
  • Once it is lukewarm, mash the berries with a spoon or whatever works best for you.
  • Strain the mixture through a cheesecloth into a bowl or jar.
  • Allow to cool completely.
  • Add the honey and mix well.
  • Once everything is mixed up, pour it into your favorite mason jar or bottle.
  • Keep stored in the refrigerator.
