Well as some of you that are subscribed to my blog over at floydhomesteading.com have noticed in your email as of late is some strange happenings.
Truth be told, well I have a double life; now I am not talking about being a covert spy or an assassin or anything as severe as that but basically, I have two passions in my life: Homesteading and gaming. Hence the term “Homesteader by day and Gamer by night” and no, I am not Batman!
For years it seemed like I could not focus on both of them. I would get inspired and focus on one and the other would fall silent, then I’d hit a wall and switch up and so on and so forth. One of the biggest reasons is due to the sheer size of each passion… websites, multiple social media accounts, creating graphics & videos and so on; and that is just the content creation part of it, that doesn’t include the time it takes to do each of them to even create the content.
So, recently I had an epiphany, combine them for the most part. Now I am sure I am not the only person in the world who enjoys the homestead life of growing your own food, raising animals and cooking from scratch while becoming self-sufficient and reducing the reliance on the government and the chemicals in our food system while also spending time to relax, stream on Twitch and YouTube and play some games that I have enjoyed my whole life with friends in an online community that I have never met; conquering fantasy obstacles that the game creators put in front of us; or creating beautiful sprawling fantasy themed homes to simply enjoy.
So as of yesterday, I started to combine both passions together in one place: floydhomesteading.com. While I will be keeping some of the social media accounts separate like Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter), I am working on reducing a lot of the excess to make life easier on me, reduce my overhead expenses and allow for me to be able to enjoy creating content and sharing both of my passions with all of you.
Yes, there will be an adjustment period until I can figure out the best way to do this and combine years of content without starting over from scratch. So, I ask all of you for a bit of patience during this transition, and if you get newsletters from my blog and it has content that you are not interested in, please just ignore that part of it and continue to follow for the content you do enjoy!
